Sha Tin had a turf track presented in GOOD condition with the running rail set in the “A” or “true” position.
RACE 1: C4 - 1400m
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
This race rated, after adjustments, quite near the standard for the grade. The first-four past the post were the first-four in the run. Chairman Lo was good winning with top weight and covering ground, he might be competitive up in grade with a lighter weight. Charge On didn’t get the required race-shape but still ran well.
RACE 2: C3 - 1200m
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The first sectional was run a touch quick, but a steady second sectional meant that War Of Courage probably had his chance to win. Possibly being the first time around a bend was new and had some effect, but otherwise it is hard to find an excuse, even though I am sure he will be better for the experience. Biz Power was very good, but outpaced early. I would like to see him again. The form should stack up well enough.
RACE 3: C4 - 1200M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The pace was good and it was a vastly improved performance from the winner True Legend who had the cheek-pieces applied and led for the first time. I nor the market to a degree ($21) saw that performance coming. Good Luck Friend was solid, he would’ve won in another bound and going up in grade he will be competitive. Judy’s Star probably needs a jockey change to be more competitive.
RACE 4: C3 - 1600M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The first half-mile was run quickly, and then they steadied, allowing the backmarkers the right shape to get the perfect run in to the race. The race rated okay, with Ever Laugh battling pretty well. Joyful Heart was a play and had a good run, and didn’t run to his best. All-in-all it was a pretty standard race for the grade.
RACE 5: Group 1 - 1200M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
There is not much quality in the sprint ranks and there was less than 3-lengths covering 8 or 11 runners. I’m not sure that Mr Stunning enjoyed a resurgence as much as there is just a void of elite talent. This race didn’t rate as anything special, with Thanks Forever probably the one who is going to step up.
RACE 6: C3 - 1400M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The pace was good, but not fast and it was a solid win to Fantastic Show. He is going well. Hello Daddy was brave up on the pace. Wellington travelled keenly and was plain disappointing, this rated 5-lengths worse than his previous win. Perhaps he didn’t stay? Perhaps he was a touch too keen in the running? But either way, his previous efforts suggest he is a lot better than this. The 1400m probably has to be a query for him, he really stopped alarmingly quickly in the final 75m.
RACE 7: Group 1 - 1600M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
This was a sit and sprint, and this race rated very well indeed. Beauty Generation was solid, without being where he was, and Southern Legend was a deserved winner. However, More Than This was excellent. It wasn’t his preferred race-shape and he closed better than anything else. Taking a line through him, it might be worth having a long range bet on Golden Sixty in the HKIR mile in December (which is their early indicated preference), or possibly the HKIR Cup?
RACE 8: Group 1 - 2000M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
This was real tactical race and the cream rose to the top. Exultant was too good, albeit vulnerable late. He continues to post similar figures to his best and is racing so well. Furore is clearly going better for the new stable.
RACE 9: C2 - 1200M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
On raw times they only ran 0.2 seconds slower than the featute sprint. SO the winner Computer Patch is an exciting sprinter and clearly up to progressing further, while the run of Glorious Spectrum (SID) was enormous. He could be a real star, but is obviously plagued with issues, his final-400m (22.05) was the 3rd-best of the day and up to G1 standard.
RACE 10: C2 - 1600M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The pace was good and most horses should have had their chance. It was a nice win to General’s Delight and he clearly has upside, and is better ridden with patience. Uncle Steve (SID) makes the file on the back of this run. He closed well and hasn’t really shown much this term… until now. Green Luck was very good and he was seen making nice ground late.
