Sha Tin had a turf track initially presented in GOOD condition before it was upgraded to GOOD TO FIRM condition following race 5. The running rail set in the “A” or “true” position.

RACE 1: C4 - 1200m
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD

A slow first sectional was set and then the tempo quickened from the 800m, with the first-three past-the-post all settling handy on the turn including the winner Breeze Of Spring. Overall, the race didn’t rate as anything special, although Leading Fortune hit the line better than anything else with a race-best final-200m (11.54). However, this just looks an average race going forward.

RACE 2: C4 - 1600m
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD

The pace was slow early and this became a real sprint home. From that perspective, Party Everyday (SID) was enormous, along with Fantastic Boy. Party Everyday can settle a lot closer should he draw a gate and in this distance range, he shouldn’t be too far from a win. Fantastic Boy is eligible for a drop in grade and can also be followed.

RACE 3: C4 - 1200M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD

It was an excellent front-running ride by Purton here aboard Good Luck Friend, gradually ramping it up in front. This race rated well and I expect the form to stack up well. I expect the winner to be hard to beat given he remains in the grade, while Yee Cheong Pegasus was also solid in defeat. Chairman Lo was held-up and ran on well all things considered, but I am wary of him.

RACE 4: C4 - 1400M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD

The pace was solid through out and it set up nicely for the swoopers. Party Genius had a tough run, was made plenty of use of, and ran well all things considered. While Triple Triple (SID) and Heza Beauty (SID) both make the file based on their efforts. The former was close enough to that solid tempo and battled very well. Heza Beauty blew the start by several lengths and was terrific, with a 45.44 final-800m! Triple Triple goes up in grade but with a light weight, he will fare well.

RACE 5: C3 - 1200M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD

The pace was even and they ran the final-400m in pretty quick time, but overall for the grade, the race didn’t rate as anything special. Happy Time ran on well from back in the field and there was quite a bit of merit to his performance. Happy Alumni (rider lost iron) stepped awkwardly and his chances were blown then and there. However, there a lot of merit in that run also and he can be followed. As a collective, it was nothing more than an average race.

RACE 6: C3 - 2000M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD TO FIRM

Overall this race rated very well and the pace was decent. On that tempo, perhaps the light weight kicked in late for the winner London Hall and Enrichment battled pretty well all things considered. Most of these will line up against one another soon enough and get their turn.

RACE 7: C3 - 1200M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD TO FIRM

The pace was solid and they came home in quick time! Wellington is very smart. His last-600m (33.36) was the 2nd-best on the card and that was off a good pace. He can keep winning. Larson and Victoriam were both sound behind a good one, along with King Of Hearts. The form will stack up well.

RACE 8: HK Derby - 2000M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD TO FIRM

It was a truly run HK Derby and Golden Sixty was simply too good. His final-400m of 21.67 off that tempo proves he is top notch, although he has already proved that this season. He is right in the mix with the best in Hong Kong and seems as though he is as good from 1600m to 2000m! This was a good Derby as far as how it rated and I think the form will work out well enough out of it.

RACE 9: C3 - 1400M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD TO FIRM

The pace was very slow through the early stages and the final-400m was a sprint home, suiting those that raced close to the pace. General’s Delight was only having his second Hong Kong start, and he posted the equal-best final-200m (11.16) off a slow pace. Nonetheless, he clearly has upside. Joyful Heart was also good given the race shape.

RACE 10: C2 - 1400M
Course: TURF "A"     Going: GOOD TO FIRM

This race rated well and the winner Seattle Choice is smart. He did get a picnic up on the pace and when you are on pace and the final-400m is run 0.77 seconds quicker than standard, you are going to be hard to catch! From that perspective, Star Shine and Assimilate were both very good. As was Circuit Three whose chances were zero once Happy Fun decided not to contest the lead.
