Sweet In Defeat
Sha Tin (M19) – Saturday, 10 November 2018

Sha Tin had a turf track presented in GOOD condition with the running rail set in the “A” position. The all-weather (AWT) track was also rated GOOD.
RACE 1: C5 - 2000m
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The pace was steady until the 800m and then it picked up noticeably with Clement Legend managing to win again. Pearl Furu was checked at the 600m so there was some merit in his performance to finish second.
RACE 2: C4 - 1200m
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
This was a very high rating race for this grade, with a very solid tempo set through the first-800m. That being considered, I wouldn’t drop off Happy Tour who was close enough to the speed. One for the Sweet In Defeat (SID) file is Glittering Armour, who posted the seconnd-best final-400m off a solid pace (22.36). He should be hard to beat when he next steps out.
RACE 3: C4 - 1200M
Course: AWT Going: GOOD
This was a race run at an even tempo and the winner Right Choice was too good. He remains in the grade following the win and should be very competitive again. Not much else to see behind him.
RACE 4: C3 - 1200M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
A solid tempo was set through the first half of this race, so there was some merit to the run of Flying Bonus. The runner-up Music Addition ran very well at his first outing and makes the SID file. There were clear excuses for Kasi Farasi and Complacency who covered ground without cover on a solid tempo.
RACE 5: C4 - 1400M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The pace was decent here without being excessive. Witness Hunter is progressive and needs to improve a touch to be competitive up in grade, with the runner up City Legend arguably better ridden cold, as he was on this occasion. However, nothing much to take from this event outside of those two.
RACE 6: C4 - 1800M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The first two sections of this race were run very slowly before they ramped up the speed from the 1200m mark. King’s Man was very good against the race shape and he makes the SID file, with notable mentions to Hay Run and Good Days.
RACE 7: C3 - 1400M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
The pace was solid in this event and those at the front of the field should have been vulnerable, but weren’t. I am not sure what to make of the ride on Home Run but suffice to say he makes the SID file and could be a good value runner when he next steps out.
RACE 8: C1 - 1400M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
A solid first 600m set this race up for something to finish over the top. However, there is one for the SID file here that will run in the HKIR International Sprint and he will be a good chance to upset the more fancied runners, Little Giant. He posted the best 600m, 400m and 200m of the day and was excellent in defeat. Conte will strip fitter and prove hard to beat next time, he too makes the SID file.
RACE 9: C3 - 1200M
Course: AWT Going: GOOD
The tempo through the first-600m was solid enough and Nuclear Power finally notched a win. Just Not Listening just had to work far too hard and was brave in defeat, his winning ways are far from over.
RACE 10: C3 - 1600M
Course: TURF "A" Going: GOOD
This race didn’t rate well on the back of a slow and somewhat muddling tempo. They ran well outside of standard off a slow pace and never really quickened that well when they could. This looks a poor form reference moving forward.
