A number of those on-pace went quickly through the first section and ultimately the race was dominated by the swoopers. It was a deserved and solid win to Ho Ho Feel. However, he usually isn’t one to hold his form that well. Within the context of the day, this race just rated fairly.

The leader and winner got an easy first section and proved too good. The runner that bucked the pattern of the race was Young Glory who sustained a race-best 600m (35.11) and this was his best career run to date. He makes the Sweet In Defeat (SID) file and could be one to follow going forward beyond the next start or two.

Quite a genuine speed was set through out this event. Honest Way posted the best final-400m (22.05) of the entire meeting, which is noteworthy, along with Charizard (22.34) the second-best of the meeting. The latter was an excellent run on his debut and he should pick up a race shortly, with Honest Way probably capable of settling closer from a better barrier. They both make the SID file.

A really solid tempo was set in this one, so there was plenty of merit in the win of Glorious Forver. The race rating highly enough to suggest that he is up to the top level in Hong Kong over this distance range. He might well become a leading player in the Hong Kong International Races.

This was the lowest rating race of the day. Cordyceps was quite good sitting three-wide without cover for the duration of the race and he will strip fitter for his next start. However, I’m not sure how strong the formlines out of this race will work out.

The tempo was muddling during this race, however it was a nice win to Bigwood who had a smooth run at the tail of the field and quickened well. He was issued with a six-point penalty for the win, so he will be competitive in this grade again. 

The pace through the first-800m was genuine enough in this Group Two sprint, so all honours were with the winner Hot King Prawn. His effort rated well and although at set weights Hot King Prawn is going to find it a touch harder, he has clearly come back this term at an improved level. The post-race vet-check revealed nothing with Ivictory, which is a concern because he dropped out tamely and clearly ran nowhere near to his best. 

The Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy success of Beauty Generation rated as the best win of the day. The pace was solid throughout and Beauty Generation is posting numbers that will be hard to beat come the HK Mile in December. It was a nice fresh-up run from Eagle Way with a 45.49 final-800m and this was up there with his best runs since being in Hong Kong. I would like to see another return like that from him though, as he hasn’t been all that reliable in the past. Pakistan Star’s fitness looked to give way the last 200m and he’ll improve following the fresh-up run.

This race didn’t rate anything special. Good For You was too far back given the way the race was run and he is now eligible in a class lower. He ran a respectable 22.82 final-400m and against easier opposition next time, he makes the SID file and can win.

This race was run at an even tempo and clearly Simply Brilliant was very unlucky. The runner-up Good Standing sat three-wide without cover and fought bravely. He has now had two runs back from little racing over the past year, so he might be ready when he next appears and makes the SID file.
