Happy Valley had a turf track presented in GOOD condition with the running rail set in the “C+3” or outermost position.

RACE 1: C5 - 2200m
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

Hmmmm. They ran nearly 1.5 seconds inside of standard on this track… for a bunch of low grade gallopers that we know aren’t much good. Anyway, it was obviously a very fast track. The only one I want to followout of the race is Victorious Seeker. It was a great ride that won the race with Garlic Yeah, but Victorious Seeker has his foot on the till.

RACE 2: C4 - 1200m
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

This race rated surprisingly well. The track was fast but this was still relatively quick compared to races during the rest of the night. Confucius Day should be winning one of these soon. Overall, the form should stack up well enough behind Exceptional Desire.

RACE 3: C3 - 1000M
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

It was a nicely rated ride in front on Very Sweet Orange, but it will no doubt be tougher for him from here on. Explosive Witness was good in defeat, especially as he was hampered on the turn which cost him ground and momentum. Both Momentum Galaxy and Baltic Whisper caught the eye and might be worth following also.

RACE 4: C4 - 1650M
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

They set a crazy pace here. With the rail in the “C+3” position on-pacers are suited, but seriously, it was a pretty big effort for Lightning Steed to still be there in the finish on the quick surface. Alpha Hedge has arrived on fresh legs at this stage of the season and will be compeititve again next time, while Triumphant Horse is getting closer to a win. Lightning Steed, with a senior rider aboard will be better-suited in the future.

RACE 5: C4 - 1200M
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

This was the worst race on the card and given the fast deck, they really went slowly and didn’t come home that fast either! Ares ran on quite well from back in the field, after conceeding ground mid-race with a lack of pace. I’m not convinced about the rest.

RACE 6: C3 - 1650M
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

The pace was slow and you had to be near the front of the race on teh circle to get into contention. The race rated okay but nothing special. Starship (SID) gets a drop in grade after this run and is the one to follow, he had a race-best final-200m (10.72) and ran well everything considered. Overall, a fair race but there were some good efforts.

RACE 7: C3 - 1200M
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

This race rated about where it should. There were no excuses for Victory In Hand, he seemed to be rated well enough and was only fair, so given he was backed in to $1.50, plenty of money went missing! Not sure he should start that short again….out of the race, not much makes appeal.

RACE 8: C2 - 1200M
Course: TURF "C+3"     Going: GOOD

There is no surprise that this was the best race on the card and Amazing Star was back around the level he was when winning prior to his last start defeat. He still has a bit to find to reach the better sprinters. Joyful Union was very good late and he might be able to find a race soon. The form should stack up well enough.
