Reviewing the meeting from Happy Valley last Wednesday revealed a few good performances from horses that are worth following. The track was rated GOOD for the entire program.

RACE 1: C5 - 1800m
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

The leader, Holy Unicorn, got away with some soft sections in the lead and consequently proved hard to run down. The margin was therefore flattering but the fact he ran inside of standard, off a very slow lead speed, is encouraging. He may have genuinely improved. Wealthy Fortune hit the line quite well with the best final-200m and will strip fitter for the run.

RACE 2: C4 - 1200m
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

This race did not rate well at all. In fact, it was the worst race on the card. Split Of A Second and All You Need were either checked or hampered and had excuses. Travel Successor was three-wide without cover and boxed on okay, but ultimately, he managed to do that because those chasing were not very good.

RACE 3: C3 - 1650M
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

This was the best rating race of the night, which is saying something because there was a C2 event over 1650m where the tempo was strong. The form will stack up well out of this race. Faithful Trinity abosorbed a solid tempo and was brave. Namjong Plus clocked the 18th best final-400m (23.31) off a fast pace. It was a decent effort and he can win back at Sha Tin or over further at the Valley. The winner, Faithful Trinity, was issued a five-point penalty for the win which is simply a gift. He can win at least one more race this season.

RACE 4: C4 - 1200M
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

Tactically this was a strange race, with one Italian rider handing up to another. The winner ended up with a soft lead and was simply suited by the race tempo. Captain Boss (10th-best 400m 23.17) ran well enough under a light weight, but not much to take from this race either, with Victory Power being disappointing upon assessment.

RACE 5: C4 - 1650M
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

The first section of this race was run very fast so Megatron had an excuse, and Sparkling Sword made a move in the second section when the pace steadied. This set it up nicely for Right Honourable who was dominant in the finish. His final-200m (11.84) was the best final-200m of the meeting. He can win again. Sparkling Sword will find a race win at short notice too.

RACE 6: C3 - 1000M
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

This race didn’t rate well but there were two runners that ran quite okay and no doubt in a similar line-up will clash again soon. E-Super covered plenty of extra ground and General Iron posted the best 600, 400 and 200m splits of the race. Unfortuntely, General Iron has no early speed.

RACE 7: C3 - 1200M
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

This race rated quite well and given the amount of early work that Beauty Loyal did, he was enormous in defeat. He still clocked the fourth-best final-200m in this race off a solid tempo. There were quite a few forgive runs in the race, but Beauty Loyal is one to keep safe and is one for the “SID” shortlist.

RACE 8: C2 - 1650M
Course: Turf "C"     Going: GOOD

No surprise this was the second-best rating race on the card given it was for Class 2 horses. Turin Redstar was excellent after doing plenty of work through the first half of the race and can win shortly. The winner Circuit Glory was having his first start for Tony Cruz and was checked early in the race so there was merit to his win – he can go on now. Also, it was a better run from Helene Charisma.
