The track played on speed and it was hard for horses to make ground from too far back in the running. Winners were 0 to 3.8-lengths off the leader at the 800m, they came from 1 to 3-wide with 8 of 9 winners being between 2^nd through 4^th positions at the 400m. Lanes 2 to 9 in the straight we used, and whilst the straight didn’t see any major fast lanes, it wasn’t easy to make much headway on the leaders.
