KINDA COOL is a horse that brings a higher rating and level of form from Sha Tin to what is a pretty “thin” race overall. I’m happy to go with him one more time and if he fails he’s barred for the rest of this season J! The quinella with JAZZ STEED also appeals here. He was impressive last time running home very strongly.

Results: 1st @ $2.70 BC (+11.05 units) + 2nd quinella @ $5.00 (+4 units) -> (+15.05 units)

8 INCANTO PREPARED (rp – $3.60)

11 HAPPY ICHIBAN (rp – $8.50)

WIN (1 unit)

INCANTO PREPARED is drawn to get the right run in order to win this race at a good price. He’s run well with some excuses recently and looks a nice over. HAPPY ICHIBAN is a big price too and although he’s a touch one-paced he can roll forward and stay on well with a light weight tonight.

Results: 3rd (-5 units) + 10th (-1 unit) -> (-6 units)

RACE 8

4 STAR SHINE (rp – $3.00)

3 SHINING GEM (rp – $6.00)

WIN (1.5 units)

STAR SHINE’S win last time to overcome a race shape that didn’t suit was far better than the narrow margin might suggest. He’s drawn for Purton to give him every chance once more and he can take it out. SHINING GEM looks to be wrongly disregarded by the market stepping up in distance. He looks to me (aside from his good form) like he’ll cope with the extended Valley mile okay.

Results: 5th (-5 units) + 7th (-1.5 units) -> (-6.5 units)

RACE 9

11 HIGHLAND FORTUNE (rp – $3.50)

WIN (4 units)

7 WINNING METHOD (rp – $4.50)

WIN (2.5 units)

The last start win of HIGHLAND FORTUNE was simply enormous. If he can repeat that level with a lighter weight tonight then he can win again. WINNING METHOD should’ve beaten VICTORIAM last start and although he’s drawn terribly, he can be in the fight with any luck in the running.

Results: 2nd (-4 units) + 4th (-2.5 units) -> (-6.5 units)

RACE 6

6 HIGH RISE SOLDIER (rp – $5.50)

WIN (1.5 units)

8 LE TERROIR (rp – $8.00)

WIN (1 unit)

CALIFORNIA RAD has come up very short and to me he looks far too short. This opens up room to have small outlays on a couple of runners at bigger odds, HIGH RISE SOLDIER and LE TERROIR.

Results: 3rd (-1.5 units) + 6th (-1 unit) -> (-2.5 units)

Overall result for 29 units strategy

Extraordinary, yet typical Happy Valley end to the season there with Highland Fortune looking all over a winner, only to get rolled late! One can only say, “that’s racing”.

Another night of close run things, but the best bet was very impressive, Kinda Cool. This ensured a small profitable result over the season for those who shopped well on that.

Overall, it has been a a testing season, and as I’ve already said, one I will review before the new term on 5 September 2020!
