This looks like a reasonably even race upon assessment, but with CIRCUIT HASSLER likely to come up favourite – given he has won one race from 49 starts in Hong Kong – there should be some opportunities to bet around him. That though is the conundrum, as Circuit Hassler’s recent runs have rated well and in isolation they certainly mean he should be favourite, but the simple fact is he hasn’t won out of turn. LEADING FORTUNE is clearly a horse that has upside and is still learning his craft, but he has still managed to win two of his last four starts and with the right run from barrier 2 he could easily win again. SMART CHARADE was very unlucky on his last outing and somewhat surprisingly; he might even be available at reasonable odds with Moreira on board. Whilst his form is well exposed, he’s getting down to a mark where he can make his presence felt in an event like this, which in reality doesn’t have much depth to it. SMART WONGCHOY is a horse that will roll forward and might make the running, so warrants some respect. The prospect of Circuit Hassler doing the same might mean quite a controlled tempo, which could have him hard to catch in a sprint home.
