MIGHTY VALOR demolished rivals in a particularly impressive win on a wet track last start, 3 weeks ago. However he did so with a significant bias on his side. The flip side is that effort rated very well and it was on the back of a couple of good barrier trials. So the difficulty this time is the question if he has genuinely improved or to what extent was it the conditions that helped bring about that improvement? He was $6.50 in to $5 that day and had been $16’s or higher on all previous starts, so there is an inclination to believe the market intelligence that he is legitimately going better. REWARDING TOGETHER made his debut on the same day and ran a half-second slower, but that came on the worst part of the track. The son of Pierro should be improved for the experience, maps better here, and I like him as a smaller play. HERO STAR was specked at odds last time ($97 to $53) and looked a big chance of winning at the 200m mark. In the end, subsequent winner Yee Cheong Pegasus proved too good but a similar effort should see Hero Star go close again. SUPER KIN leaves the impression that he will appreciate the step up to 1200m but also looks to me like he might be a better galloper next preparation. That said, the market will tell a story, but if he gets out to a silly price, might still be worth a small part-unit outlay. I’m happy backing Rewarding Together though and taking a quinella with Mighty Valor.
