FANTASTIC SHOW has been a revelation this season winning four-in-a-row over 1400m, before running a close 3^rdlast start behind Marvel Dragon. Then, whilst he received an economical run, the race wasn’t run quickly enough in the early stages and the shape just didn’t suit him. That will be his issue again this afternoon, however he is still the horse to beat and hasn’t finished progressing. FLYNG SWORD was very well supported last-start and he didn’t have clear running when he needed to start progressing into the race. Flying Sword’s clearly running well for Tony Cruz and should be peaking third-up, but he is a funny horse that seems to need every favour in the running. I’m also not sure that he’ll get a strong 1400m even though his last-200m over 1200m are good, however he looks stronger now. MERRYGOWIN caught my eye last time in what was a messy race due to a rider-less horse interfering during the running (Purton was dislodged from Regency Bo Bo shortly after the start). He got shuffled back at the worst time, but once he was clear ran the fastest last-200m of the event (11.83s). Merrygowin is a big price early on and he’s worth a small outlay. SUPERB DADDY won well-enough with the blinkers taken off last start and if he can improve once more, then he could win again. Fantastic Show is the horse to beat, but short enough, so I’m happy to have a small outlay on Merrygowin at odds.
