Hopefully Moreira and Purton have posted some wins by the time we get to this event and that might allow one to get a slightly better price about PRESIDENT’S CHOICE with Karis Teetan on board. This son of Redoute’s Choice has done nothing wrong in his rookie season (5: 2-2-0) and looks destined to rise higher in the ratings. President’s Choice comes out of a key form reference, which was Race 669 won by Inner Flame, and he was doing his best work late, albeit after enjoying a sweet run in the race. MIG ENERGY was disappointing there, but more patient tactics and Zac Purton jumping on board from an inside draw should certainly help. UNIQUE TREASURE remains in good form and with a light weight and even luck, he shouldn’t be too far away. The blowout chance in this event is HAPPY ALUMNI. He is probably better than all of these horses raw ability-wise, but is a handful on course, and his barrier manners are poor. However, if he decides to put his best foot forward he could beat them all. BE READY might also prove far more suited to racing at Sha Tin. The 1000m races at Happy Valley have been a bit sharp for him and he should be kept safe too. It’s a pretty competitive race to close the day, but President’s Choice is the horse to beat and there’s decent value with Be Ready.
