The opening race will see TRUE LEGEND venture to Happy Valley for the first time and even though having experience there would be preferable, he looks to me like he’s the horse to beat. Tonight he should be able to sit on the speed without the pressure that he had to sustain last time, when he actually fought okay to the line. The event (Race 604) he won prior to last start has proven a strong reference with Good Luck Friend (2^nd), Casa De Forca (4^th) and Judy’s Star (5^th) each winning a race since. HARRIER JET showed last time that he was close to winning form. Then he made good ground late and did so against the pattern and shape of the race. Zac Purton takes the ride tonight and from barrier 3 he should have him positioned just behind the speed and ready to sprint into the finish late. BULLISH BROTHER won his last start, but was flattered somewhat by the advantage horses on the night had, that raced on the speed and close to the rail. WHISKEY NEAT gets a drop in grade and some of the numbers he’s posted in Hong Kong would have him competitive with a repeat. The draw though is a nightmare and will mean he’ll have to work hard at some point in the race. When he’s had to work in the running, he’s been very weak late, but he could be considered for exotic bets. I’m happy to have a small outlay on True Legend to win this though and a quinella with Harrier Jet.
