KINGS SHIELD is my best of the evening and Zac Purton has a few options tactically that will make him very hard to beat. I like him coming back to 1650m and off his best efforts he can turn the tables on BUDDIES and MONGOLIAN KING from their recent meetings.

Result: 1st @ $2.60 (+11.2 units)

10 SUPER POWER MAN (rp – $2.50)

WIN (5 units)

Chad Schofield has been very positive on Super Power Man so far in his career and with similar intent the pair can dominate this race and make it three. He’s put up numbers to suggest taking a class rise won’t be an issue for him, given the corresponding drop in weight to be carrier.

Result: 7th (-5 units)

RACE 9

3 PING HAI TREASURE (rp – $4.50)

WIN (3 units)

12 LONDON LUCKYSTAR (rp – $6.00)

WIN (2 units)

PING HAI TREASURE should be an improved horse on his two runs back this preparation and looks ready to win. A return to his best will make him hard to beat. LONDON LUCKYSTAR has zero luck last time and is more than capable of outperforming his early odds as he’s shown good ability so far.

Results: 7th (-3 units) + 4th (-2 units) -> (-5 units)

RACE 7

3 SMILING CITY (rp – $6.00)

WIN (2 units)

9 MEGATRON (rp – $9.00)

WIN (1 unit)

SMILING CITY was huge in defeat last time and if he can secure any sort of run from a tricky draw then he is capable of winning this. MEGATRON is one of the likely leaders and looks a shade of overs early as well.

Results: 10th (-2 units) + 14th (-1 unit) -> (-3 units)

-1.8 UNITS (9% LOSS)

There’s no doubt the AWT had a hot rail’s bias in play tonight.

Some excellent results in spite of that with the Best bolting up and some solid undercard returns from California Concord, Striking Mr C and Thou Shall Sing.

Super Power Man was the main disappointment after finding the front, and although he went a touch slowly the first part of the race, he was entitled to find more late. London Luckystar was enormous in the last given the pattern and is ready to win from a decent barrier and with luck.
