This isn’t a race that makes a whole lot of appeal but the 4.5kg claim of Jerry Chau aboard MONSTER KAKA is significant. This Hong Kong maiden has failed to salute in 14 local starts but has been getting closer lately and is running okay. Monster Kaka did quite well given the strong tempo last time and although ENJOY LIFE beat him home, I tend to think that he can turn the tables on that rival today. Joao Moreira jumping on board Enjoy Life will ensure that he is popular in the market and even though he doesn’t have a huge amount of natural speed, he’ll get an economical run through out. BULLETPROOF brings the same form lines (Race 627) and hit the line better than anything else but again, he doesn’t map that well at all. Zac Purton sticks with FULL POWER, following a very disappointing run last time (when we made him a play) and is another to consider. His previous form is certainly good enough to give him respect in this event and the lead of the jockey forgiving that effort is noteworthy. Another reasonable option is MISSION SMART, especially if he can take advantage of a low draw and be positioned close to the lead. He has shown steady progression and the form out of his last race reads better given that Lightning Steed won during the week.
