These 1800m contests at Happy Valley have been very difficult to work out this season and I’m sure this one won’t be much different. I liked the run of ABOVE in defeat on his last start as he wasn’t given the best ride when taking off mid-race (pre-determined tactics that backfired) yet still only weakened late. If he receives a softer and more measured run in transit (with Joao Moreira getting back on board), then he could easily turn that last start result into a win. BLASTOISE is another that can win. He comes through a strong form reference from Sha Tin (Race 570) where he was runner-up to Enzemble. Champion Supreme finished on behind that pair and has won nicely since. Blastoise himself has had one start over the course and distance for a win and he could easily notch another tonight. WORLD FAMOUS ran 4^th to Blastoise earlier this season and his recent trial was sound work. From barrier 2 he should be given every opportunity in the running, following a freshen-up after the Derby (which proved too rich). GOOD OMEN has the booking of Zac Purton and his run behind Bear Again contained a lot of merit. Forget his last outing when whilst he was a bit weak to line, he was ridden differently to how he might be most effective. He could be a big improver with the rider change.
