Normally a race like this with half the field having one start or fewer would be difficult to play into, but one of those is ILUVATAAR, who has really impressed me with his work and trials leading in to his debut today. Iluvataar’s trial against Golden Gorge in Victoria, Australia before export was excellent work and this gelding looks above average. I think he can win at the first time of asking this afternoon. DECISIVE TWELVE has run with merit on both career starts over 1000m and the son of All Too Hard should appreciate coming up to 1200m. However, he doesn’t map well from barrier 10. FLYING BONUS would certainly rate a decent chance based on his 3^rdto Jumbo Happiness (Island Shine was 2^nd in that race and has won since) and he also drops into this Class 4. The Purton/Yip combination has been absolutely sizzling this term (36: 13-2-3), and the chances of Flying Bonus must be respected. Not much else makes appeal, with Iluvataar being my best of the card. I expect going forward that he’ll settle at least a class above this field (possibly more), so I will back him to make a winning start.
