There are some pretty limited gallopers contesting this opening event, but the booking of Zac Purton on LORIZ for leading trainer Ricky Yiu is noteworthy. This son of Smart Missile has posted two wins in Hong Kong, both over the course and distance and looks well placed tonight. His 3^rd earlier this term to Victory In Hand rated well enough to win this event and the key will be how much work he does in the early stages, because he is never that strong late. SUPER LUCKY would have clearly been the horse to beat based on his recent form but a wide gate and a lack of early pace means he maps poorly and might have to settle for a minor spot once again. There is definitely a race in THIS IS CHARISMA and it might be this one. I wouldn’t take any notice of his last outing at Sha Tin (it was a shifting track surface) and his prior form at Happy Valley indicated that he was building towards a win. With the right run in this race he will go close. ALL BEST FRIENDS and MONKEY JEWELLERY map nicely and shouldn’t be far away, but each has had plenty of chances. Monkey Jewellery is the horse I’d lean towards of that pair, but with Moreira on he’s unlikely to be at a backable price. This Is Charisma is worth a small outlay here at an each way price.
