SHANGHAI MASTER is the horse that I’m keen to play in this event. He has been drawn the outside gate on his last two starts in this grade and been gallant in defeat. Last start he posted a race-best final-400m (23.09) in the process of finishing 3^rd. He can settle a lot closer from a favourable draw tonight and, once again, Purton getting the ride is a positive. Added to this is that there really isn’t much opposition for him tonight relative to recent starts. HAPPY GOOD GUYS has been consistent lately and his last win over the track and trip was sound. He is drawn to receive one of the runs of the race once more and is the horse for Shanghai Master to beat. I am hoping VICTORY MASTERY is short in the market and holds a decent percentage of money, as whilst he has been in okay form, the wide draw and the fact he will settle in the second half of the field is a big negative. OVERSUBSCRIBED might have been ridden too positively last time and a more conservative approach from a better barrier could easily yield a better outcome. I’m happy to bet Shanghai Master to win this though, he’s my best of the evening.
