There will be better quality races to play into on the card, however there might be a value outlay here slightly “outside of square”. VIRTUS STAR and GALAXY RACER come through the same form reference (Race 519) with each having solid claims to take out this race and that duo is well found in the market. The map and barrier draws favour Galaxy Racer, who has Joao Moreira booked to ride and he has been a beaten favourite on his last two starts. There weren’t any excuses last time, he had every possible chance, and Virtus Star beat him home. However, there was good pace in that event, and there doesn’t seem much tempo in this one which is potential more suitable for Galaxy Racer. V CHEVALIERS is the runner that interests me. On his seventh career start he drops in to this grade (Class 5) for the first time and his last few runs haven’t been as bad as they look on paper. He was taken out of the race last start and given an impossible task. He still closed very well indeed with a 22.59 final-400m and I like the jockey upgrade to Chad Schofield. He will be worth a smaller play here for sure. The drop in class will also help ageing galloper NITRO EXPRESS who has still posted some pretty good numbers this season over the course and distance but doesn’t map ideally. I’m happy to speck V Chevaliers each way here.
