DECRYPT was very good in the Hong Kong Derby and it was clearly his best run to date. He actually hit the line strongly with the second-best final-200m (11.40) in the race, with only Golden Sixty running a better closing sectional. Obviously, the major step back in distance to 1400m is a slight query, but he travels well in his races so Purton should be able to put him where he likes. However, a smaller play for me in this one will be BALLISTIC KING. I like him coming up in class and dropping significantly in weight. He maps nicely and although he is somewhat of a perennial placegetter, he should get his chance this time. After all, he does have some solid form around the likes of Super Wealthy and Wellington, with Fantasy and Ka Ying Legend each coming out of his last race (499) to salute on their next outings. PERFECT MATCH is another horse that finds a more suitable contest than last start and being back up to 1400m will likely go forward today. If he is allowed to get in to his rhythm then he will be hard to get past. GENERAL’S DELIGHT was defeated by ALL IN MIND last time but considering that was only his second Hong Kong start there was some merit to that performance. His draw today makes things more difficult, but he’s got upside. BEAUTY LEGACY is a very capable horse, but who knows what to expect from him?! What will their tactics be? If you’re playing a quaddie, add LOBO’S LEGENDto a “wider” ticket as his overall form recently has been good enough. I’m happy to take a stand against the two favourites here and have outlays on Ballistic King and Perfect Match to close the card and a small outlay on General’s Delight.
