KA YING EXCELLENT ran really well last start behind Juneau Park in what has developed into a decent form race. From barrier 1 this afternoon he should receive a more economical trip and looks to be very hard to beat with Purton taking over. Casimiro provides a good quinella option here.

Results: 1st @ $2.40 BC (+9.8 units) + 5th (-1 unit) -> (+8.8 units)

WIN (6 units)

DUBLIN STAR delivered a very strong performance late last start after being slowly away. He will be suited to the 1200m and with an even getaway today I expect him to break through for his first win.

Result: 3rd (-6 units)

RACE 6

6 KING DRAGON (rp – $3.50)

WIN (4.5 units)

KING DRAGON has been a touch frustrating for backers because of his inconsistent beginnings, however his form overall is good and he has race-winning ability. Will a better start from barrier 4 he can position just behind the leaders here and has the type of finish which can see him roll over the top of them late.

Result: 6th (-4.5 units)

14 SUCH A HAPPINESS (rp – $5.00)

5 CRAIG’S STAR (rp – $8.00)

This is a race where I’m effectively “taking on” favourite FARHH ABOVE. SUCH A HAPPINESS will have his first start for Tony Millard and will wear blinkers and I expect him to run very well off the back of a strong trial. CRAIG’S STAR get the map advantage over other leading chances and can run well at odds. There’s plenty of value with quinellas banking Such A Happiness.

Results: 3rd (-3 units) + 14th (-1.5 units) + (-2 units) -> (-6.5 units)

Whilst this is not a high-confidence race there is some value around the quinellas with BUTTERFIELD, SAVVY NINE (out of the Derby) and FAST MOST FURIOUS.

Result: 2nd, 5th & 7th (-2 units)

Overall result for 21 unit strategy

Fine lines there… between an absolute fill-up and an annoying placing.

Good value for those who shopped winner Everyone’s Joy at a rp of $9, paying $15+, nice Q and Tri also.

The Best and Strategy overall yielded a loss, but there were some great results across the card overall.
