The principal chances should land on the pace and get their opportunity to fight it out in the third event. FANTASY should be a deserved favourite given his last two starts. Who knows why Moreira didn’t go forward two starts back, he would have won that day and last time, well once again, he was given a poor ride. Anyway, he is clearly the horse to beat and if he jumps on terms and lands in the spot I have him mapped, then he should be winning. A case can be made for HANDSOME BO BO. He hasn’t competed since mid-December, which might be an issue given he is 0 from 2 first-up, but his recent trial was very good and if he’s allowed to dictate the pace on his terms, or take a sit (as he did in the trial) of a stronger speed, then he will run well. The key runner from a pace perspective is TEAM SPIRIT. He never jumped on terms last time and wasn’t a factor thereafter, so I’m not quite sure what to expect from him here. GOOD BEAUTY looks the best of the rest, but half this field can’t win off what they’ve shown to date, so there’s no need to delve too deeply into it. Fantasy clearly on top and the most likely horse I have to win today, from Handsome Bo Bo. Hard to find an advantage though early, so use discretion.
