GREEN REIGN ran superbly last start. The horse was taken back in the running from a wide draw and from there he hit the line hard. From a better drawn today, which will enable Moreira to settle handier in the running, he is the horse to beat, rates highly and is my best. There are good quinella options with Shining Gem, Beauty Spark and Victory Power.

Results: 4th (-7.5 units) + 3rd, 5th, 2nd (-2.5 units) -> (-10 units)

RACE 1

1 GALAXY RACER (rp – $2.70)

WIN (4.5 units)

GALAXY RACER is ready to win at his fourth start in the “cellar” grade. Both his last two efforts have been sound and he maps to get a soft run behind the speed. He’ll just require a touch of luck to get clear when the sprint goes on, and if he gets that, he should win.

Results: 3rd (-4.5 units)

RACE 3

4 WINNING WAYS (rp – $2.80)

WIN (4 units)

WINNING WAYS is the horse that rates pretty highly with me and I think is the hardest to beat in race 3. His last start run had merit and contained an excuse, with his previous run being strong enough. He maps better and is good value in early betting.

Result: 7th (-4 units)

RACE 4

4 GREEN DISPATCH (rp – $5.50)

WIN (3 units)

I expect that GREEN DISPATCH will be an improved horse following his resuming run when placing 2^ndto Tangmere 3 weeks ago. He was taken back that day, but with a positive ride here, then he can fight out the finish at a nice price.

Result: 11th (-3 units)

2 HAPPY WARRIOR (rp – $4.50)

WIN (1.5 units) & PLACE (3 units)

This isn’t a race that I’m getting too excited about, but given there are two long standing Hong Kong maidens competing and carrying plenty of market support, this leaves an option to speck HAPPY WARRIOR at a decent price. He’s drawn poorly, but his form is sound and he can be a factor at an each way price.

Result: 2nd @ $3.30 BC (-1.5 units)(+6.9 units) -> (+5.4 units)

Overall result for 26 units strategy

-16.1 UNITS (62% LOSS)

A couple of very ordinary steers from a few jocks tonight and certainly didn’t get many favours with Green Reign in the last.

So a loss for the Best Selections & Strategies, but a couple of solid results on the under-card with a two decent quinellas, trifectas and a first-fours.
