GIFT OF LIFELINE is the one that appeals most in what is a relatively even contest on paper. His last run was sound after getting shuffled a long way back in the field and rattling home with a race-best final-200m (11.21) behind Circuit Three. During the week Alpha Hedge boosted that form reference with a solid win at Happy Valley. Gift Of Lifeline will need luck in that running and a decent pace to sprint off, and hopefully he gets both. ALL IN MIND has been holding his form well and maps nicely to sit just off the pace. Three of his four Hong Kong runs have been sound and he is close to a win. TAKE WHAT YOU NEED is a similar case, as he has performed well in most of his Hong Kong starts, and although he was no match for Seattle Choice last time, he should be competitive today. GUY DRAGON has the same form as Gift Of Lifeline and should be thereabouts also, while JOYFUL HEART defied the pattern last time and deserves another chance. GENERAL’S DELIGHT is a tough one to assess. He came from Australia looking very good, had excuses for a poor debut and has looked okay since. I am not confident in his price, he could run like a $2.50 chance or 50-1 chance or somewhere in between. This and the fact it’s a competitive race means that even though I have a small leaning towards Gift Of Lifeline, it’s a small outlay affair so use my prices accordingly.
