CIRCUIT THREE is my best of the afternoon and this horse is very well placed given the ratings he’s delivered in winning. He maps ideally again, and will just need a touch of luck getting clear at the right time. The quinella with Seattle Choice appeals also.

Results: 6th (-7 units) + 1st (-1 unit) -> (-7 units)

QUINELLA & QUINELLA PLACE/DUET (0.5 unit each, 2 unit total)

WELLINGTON is two from two and his last win was certainly better than it appeared at first look. He wasn’t overly penalised by the handicapper and therefore gets his chance to win his way out of Class 3. Two others runners at very big prices are E STAR and LARSON. Both can be taken in quinella and quinella place/duet outlays with Wellington.

Results: 1st @ $2.20 BC (+7.8 units) + 2nd Q @ $28.15 (+13.55 units), QP @ $8.05 (+3.5 units) + 8th (-1 unit) -> (+23.85 units)

RACE 8

3 MORE THAN THIS (rp – $3.60)

WIN (4 units)

9 BUTTERFIELD (rp – $13.00)

WIN (0.5 unit) PLACE (1 unit)

Whilst I respect GOLDEN SIXTY as the Derby favourite, MORE THAN THIS just maps to get a lot more favours in the running. He looks worth backing with Purton clear with what is required to turn the tables on the favourite. Butterfield will run better than the market expects. He’s worth a small each way speck to sit on the speed and be in the finish late.

Results: 3rd (-4 units) + 6th (-1.5 units) -> (-5.5 units)

RACE 5

9 HAPPY ALUMNI (rp – $4.00)

WIN (3.5 units)

HAPPY ALUMNI can upset the favourite PING HAI STAR and I expect him at his best to be hardest to beat here. He’ll just need an ounce of luck from the draw, but at least race should be run at decent speed, which will suit him.

Result: 6th (-3.5 units)

RACE 3

5 SWEETLY BABY (rp – $12.00)

WIN (1 unit)

1 CHAIRMAN LO (rp – $7.50)

WIN (1.5 units)

Two runners at bigger prices are worth small specks here, SWEETLY BABY and CHAIRMAN LO. The former really caught my eye last time and I expect him to put in a cheeky performance.

Results: 9th (-1 unit) + 4th (-1.5 units) -> (-2.5 units)

Overall result for 28 units strategy

+5.35 UNITS (19% PROFIT)

A crawl and dash unfortunately didn’t suit Circuit Three where he got too in the last.

Overall some great results on the day across the races and a profit with the Best Selections and Strategy. Would’ve liked the best to lob, but that’s racing.
