summary

This is a relatively open Class 5 contest. SPORTS MASTER is interesting given he has finished runner-up on all three starts this season but has obviously had some issues and is first up for 175 days. His recent trial was sound work and coming in to this event on fresh legs, at this stage of the season, might be a positive thing. STARLOT ran with merit at Sha Tin over the 1,200m last start and has reasonable claims. He has drawn barrier 1, which might allow him to naturally settle a pair or two closer in the running, but his lack of early speed will still be he’s going to be in the back half of the field. RAICHU returns to Happy Valley after two Sha Tin efforts that were fair. There’s no doubt that even though he’s clearly limited overall, he delivers his best at the city circuit. However, the play in this event looks to be FORMULA GALORE. The drop in class is highly significant and he appears to have been set for this event. His recent trial was sound and he should simply be better than the opposition he strikes tonight. Two of his three career wins have come over the course and distance and with Zac Purton teaming up with Caspar Fownes, there is plenty in his favour. He maps to sit in an ideal position during the running from his barrier and with clear running in the straight he should be too good.

1 FORMULA GALORE

WIN (4 units)

speed

The pace should be GOOD here with TRIUMPHANT LORD and LEISURED FEET the two horses likely to push towards the lead. FORMULA GALORE maps ideally to ‘track’ that pair with PEACE ON EARTH and NASHASHUK capable of going forward early.
