summary

This should be a good opportunity for GUNNAR to open his account on his second career start. The speedy son of Hinchinbrook ran well on debut two weeks ago when tiring late, but that race rated quite well and ultimately the early exertions took their toll. Gunnar will strip fitter, be better for the experience and has found a pretty weak race to compete in. For a 1000m dash, there isn’t an abundance of early speed, so even though drawn fairly in barrier 9, with a positive gate ride he can work across to sit just off the leader in a ‘one-off’ position. TRAVEL DATUK has turned in to a professional at finishing second. There have been a series of runs that are good enough to figure once again, and he finished ahead of General Iron (who then went on to beat Gunnar last time). However, his inability to take a position is ultimately very costly and on the C+3 course that will make things especially difficult for him. The rail position tonight will suit MR RIGHT, who can mix his form, but the veteran adores this course and distance and could easily figure in the finish. However, the main danger to Gunnar could well be HONG KONG WIN who has only had one career start, where he co-led down the straight course before fading. That race rated pretty well and the market to an extent might overlook him. The primary outlay here is on Gunnar, but it’s also worth having a smaller one on Hong Kong Win.

MR RIGHT can lead this race from GUNNAR and GREAT FIT. HONG KONG WIN should certainly be amongst the leaders during the running also, whether that is outside of the leader or a pair further back with some cover.
