23 units Strategy

best outlay

RACE 5

4 ENDEARING (rp – $3.50)

WIN (5 units)

4 with 10

QUINELLA (1 unit)

ENDEARING is the best of the evening again tonight and even though I’m not quite as short on him as last time he deserves plenty of respect again. I felt he was holding his opposition on the line and should get a sweet position in the running to do so again. E MASTER is a value quinella option and off a genuine tempo he can charge into the finish.

Result: 3rd (-5 units) + 4th (-1 unit) -> (-6 units)

NEXT BEST OUTLAYS

RACE 2

1 FORMULA GALORE (rp – $3.80)

WIN (4 units)

FORMULA GALORE drops down to Class 5 and comes into the race in a fresh state. I thought his work and recent Conghua trial leading into tonight has been good enough and he’s drawn to get an ideal trip through out. He should be too good for these.

Result: 2nd (-4 units)

RACE 8

3 ARCADA (rp – $3.90)

WIN (3.5 units)

9 PERFECT PAIR (rp – $6.00)

WIN (2 units)

Both ARCADA and PERFECT PAIR are in rock solid form and bring ratings into this event that should have them hardest to beat. Going off the early market one has to be backing both of them at decent prices.

Result: 1st @ $5.00 best corporate (+14 units) + 4th (-2.5 units) -> (+11.5 units)

best each way

RACE 4

3 GOOD FOR YOU (rp – $4.00)

WIN (2.5 units) PLACE (5 units)

I’m confident that GOOD FOR YOU will outperform market expectations here and he’s drawn to give apprentice Wong every chance to put him in a winning spot. With any luck and clear running he’s in the right form and brings the right level to be in the money.

Result: 5th (-2.5 units)(-5 units) -> (-7.5 units)

Overall result for 23 units strategy

-6 units UNITS  (26% LOSS)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.

Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.

Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.

Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.

So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!

Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.

Cheers
