Happy Valley (M66) - Wednesday, 24 April 2019

21:15 HK TIME

summary

The best of the night is GIFT OF LIFELINE. The wide gate and slow pace cost him last time and from barrier 5 this time he maps far better and looks destined to rise higher in the handicap. As long as he gets away with them so he can find a position, he will prove hard to beat. I’ve been very impressed with how he’s been hitting the line over the sprint trips at Happy Valley; he’s a runner with a future beyond Class 4. LORIZ will probably work forward and perhaps the switch to the city venue will help this gelding as he has proven a little weak in the latter stages of his races at Sha Tin. GLITTERING ARMOUR needs to be kept safe, as he posted some impressive performances earlier in the season before he suffered a bleeding attack, but he is fresh up and well drawn, so he definitely comes in to contention. Not much else makes appeal, with LIGHTNING STEED needing to lift a notch and much the same can be said for FLYING MONKEY who maps well and shouldn’t be far away. The newcomer, ONE STEP AHEAD, for me, didn’t trial like anything special at this stage of his career and I’ll be happy to watch him go around.

LORIZ can lead this race and alongside REGENCY DARLING and DRAGON DANCE I expect the pace to be GOOD. FLYING MONKEY maps to get an ideal trail behind the leaders with GIFT OF LIFELINE positioned just off these.
