24 units Strategy

best outlay

3 GIFT OF LIFELINE (rp – $2.30)

WIN (7.5 units)

I have been impressed with GIFT OF LIFELINE his last few starts even though he didn’t win his latest. He maps to get a great run behind the main speed and with clear running late in the race he should prove very hard to beat. How Teetan rides Gift Of Lifeline from the barrier is important. He needs to make sure he jumps him cleanly.

Result: 3rd (-7.5 units)

8 BUNDLE OF ENERGY (rp – $3.40)

WIN (4.5 units)

6 MY FAMILY (rp – $4.80)

WIN (3 units)

There are two horses that shape as great chances at good prices in the second. BUNDLE OF ENERGY is the horse to beat, and whilst not a massive price advantage early, is a top chance to receive the right race-conditions to win. MY FAMILY looks a bigger price advantage and I like what he did at his latest start over 1200m with a view to running well over the Valley mile tonight.

Results: 3rd (-4.5 units) + 1st @ $8.50 best corporate (+22.5 units) -> (+18 units)

3 DREAM COME TRUE (rp – $6.50)

WIN (2.5 units)

6 FAIRY TWINS (rp – $8.00)

WIN (2 units)

Whilst Frustrated will be hardest to beat here and Yee Cheong Baby has trialed well in preparation for his Hong Kong debut, there are two horses that as a result are longer prices than they should be, DREAM COME TRUE and FAIRY TWINS. Dream Come True is a natural leader and won well-enough last time to say he could repeat. FAIRY TWINS comes out of the same race with Moreira booked to ride tonight and they map perfectly to sit just off the main speed.

Results: 9th (-2.5 units) + 5th (-2 units) -> (-4.5 units)

Each Way Outlay

2 WONDERFUL JOURNEY (rp – $6.50)

WIN (1.5 units) PLACE (3 units)

WONDERFUL JOURNEY lines up in a ‘thin’ race on paper where he is one of the top-three chances at the best price. He’ll just need a touch of luck from a wide draw, but if he gets any, then he can outperform market expectation.

Result: 5th (-1.5 units)(-3 units) -> (-4.5 units)

Overall result for 24 units strategy

+1.5 UNITS  (6% PROFIT)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.

Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.

Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.

Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.

So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!

Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.
