summary

The market leaders in this event I also agree to be the leading chances, GUNNISON (Moreira) and UGLY WARRIOR (Purton). Each are well performed on this all-weather surface even though one could also add that each is probably on their ‘mark’ in the handicap. The fact that Ugly Warrior receives 5.5kg from Gunnison is quite a key, as he can set or stalk the pace and might be able to let down better with a lighter weight. That said, Gunnison’s all-weather win earlier this season rated through the roof and he is a consistent galloper that could easily win. Of the remainder, it is a little difficult to assess with a limited number of runs by many of them on this surface. FLAT HEAVEN was impressive when winning a recent dirt trial and can run well. I AM POWER with the apprentice’s claim certainly piques my interest, as he still has upside, but whether or not he can be as effective on the surface is questionable. SUPER TURBO is racing well and whilst he failed at his only attempt on the surface, he might be able to figure in the finish if the track runs fairly and the pace is at least genuine. Ugly Warrior is the top-pick here though just ahead of Gunnison.

speed

UGLY WARRIOR and JUMBO LUCK can contest the lead here and the overall speed they set should be GOOD. GUNNISON is drawn to get an ideal trip behind that pair with BIG TIME BABY a candidate for being ridden forward.
