summary

The progressive BAND OF BROTHERS looks a nice prospect and his last victory over 1,400m when defeating subsequent winner Win Win was impressive given it was just his second career start. He posted the sixth-best final-200m (11.52) at the meeting and this field doesn’t appear any stronger and there should be just enough pace in the race to allow his superior turn-of-foot to come to the fore. The drop in class is significant for ULTIMATE GLORY, although it seems like an age since he last won a race (March 2016). That said, he’s drawn well and has performed in this grade and over 1400m. A better option might be SLEEP EDUCATION however. The pressure when racing close to the pace was telling on his last outing when he faded into eighth placing. He can improve here given he drops a class and he should enjoy a softer run during the race. SAM’S LOVE is also a chance to run a better race than last start, although he has been costly for win punters. Joao Moreira is the only jockey to have won aboard him and wide barriers haven’t helped the horse’s chances. He can go close in this field, especially if he can settle a pair or three closer from the gate. GRACIOUS RYDER has been a touch disappointing at his last couple of starts, but his figures prior to that give him claims. Band Of Brothers is the horse to beat but he looks a bit short. Monitor prices and bet accordingly.
