summary

The unbeaten CHAMPION’S WAY will be all the rage once again and that’s understandable. He is unbeaten in four starts and the outside draw is the main obstacle for him staying unbeaten in five starts. This is clearly his toughest assignment so far in Hong Kong, but he should appreciate the step up to 1,400m and looks hard to beat again. Moreira will look to find some cover midfield in all likelihood and given there isn’t much tempo on paper, being able to stay clear of any trouble inside might be a blessing. SUPERICH has had a little freshen-up since failing over the Sha Tin mile and he is two from two when first-up. This seems to be his right distance range and his best figures give him claims to upset the favourite. He falls into a similar boat tactical to Champion’s Way and Purton might be looking for ‘Moreira’s back’. GOOD STANDING comes back in grade, but with that comes significantly more weight to carry. He has carried weight in the past though and should be competitive even though he returned with blood in the trachea last time. BEAUTY SPIRIT is another worth considering. He won well last start over the course and distance and drops 5.5kg for this assignment. Where he maps is advantageous and could mean he establishes a break on his main rivals when they straighten for home. He’s short and right on the cusp of being his price, but Champion’s Way is my best. You might also consider small quinellas with Superich and Good Standing as well.
