26 units Strategy

best outlay

RACE 2

7 EZRA (rp – $2.60)

WIN (6 units)

10 BRAVE COMMAND (rp – $7.00)

WIN (1.5 units)

EZRA wears the blinkers for the first time this afternoon and he presents as one of my best of the day. He probably should have won his last start but has some upside that can see him progress beyond Class 4. With a touch of luck from the barriers he should win. BRAVE COMMAND can also run far better than his early price. He looks to be way over the odds, draws to get a great run and ran a good sectional late last start which hinted at s better showing next time over more ground.

Results: 5th (-6 units) + 7th (-1.5 units) -> (-7.5 units)

NEXT BEST OUTLAYS

RACE 10

11 INVINCIBLE MISSILE (rp – $2.90)

WIN (5 units)

11 with 5 & 13

QUINELLA (0.5 unit each, 1 unit total)

INVINCIBLE MISSILE wasn’t ideally ridden last start and Moreira can make up for that this afternoon. He should be able to position the horse one-off behind the main speed and should deliver a powerful sprint in the straight. PAKISTAN FRIEND and CRAIG’S STAR can both run well and I’m happy to recommend small quinella outlays on them with our main win bet.

Result: 5th (-5 units) + 9th & 2nd (-1 unit) -> (-6 units)

RACE 8

7 REFINED TREASURE (rp – $4.50)

WIN (3.5 units)

5 with 7

QUINELLA (1.5 units)

REFINED TREASURE has put some strong numbers on the board over 1000m and I believe that can translate to a bold showing over 1200m and the bend at Sha Tin for the first time. It means taking a small stand against the promising FULL OF BEAUTY, however a quinella with them both is recommended.

Result: 8th (-3.5 units)(-1.5 units) -> (-5 units)

best each way

RACE 6

9 DIAMOND BRILLIANT (rp – $4.80)

WIN (2.5 units) PLACE (5 units)

There are some promising horses here and one in particular DIAMOND BRILLIANT makes appeal as an each way outlay. He was wide and did a lot a work on debut and even though he has drawn out again today in barrier 11 the map suggest he might have more of a chance to slot in with cover with a positive ride.

Result: 2nd @ $1.95p (-2.5 units)(+4.75 units) -> (+2.25 units)

Overall result for 26 units strategy

-16.25 UNITS  (62.5% LOSS)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.

Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.

Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.

Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.

So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!

Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.
