R2 SUN TIN WAI HANDICAP

summary

There looks to be an each way play here with HIDDEN SPIRIT. His last outing was his first run on the dirt surface and suffice to say, not much went right. He hit the line stylishly (a race-best final-400m of 22.52) and meets key rival CORRE RAPIDO (who beat him that day), 3.5kg better at the weights. He will need genuine pace and a fair track where they can make ground off the rail, so hopefully the latter in particular is the case. Corre Rapido himself will be hard to beat as he was good for this grade and gets a draw to jump from which will allow Purton to position him best of all. SUNNY ORIENT was good on this surface when second to Jimson The Famous earlier this season and the Hong Kong maiden from 29 starts might get his chance to notch his first win, but he has had plenty of chances and his ‘get back’ racing pattern is far from ideal. If the track is suiting those on pace, then ROCKFORD with Joao Moreira will be suited and he might take some reeling in, along with THE HAPPY BUNCH who can run a race with a light weight, but has barrier 12 which doesn’t make it easy. A small each way on Hidden Spirit is the play here, although I have plenty of respect for Corre Rapido.

WIN & PLACE

speed

There should be genuine speed on here with ROCHFORD, CORRE RAPIDO and THE HAPPY BUNCH all ‘go-forward’ types. DRAGON REGIMENT and ROCKAGE should be able to secure reasonable runs just behind the main speed.
