summary

The opening event is not overly inspiring with little quality and depth about it. LORIZ has fewer convictions and more upside than most and looks ready now to deliver his best. He fought to the line behind Mr Croissant (race 497) well-enough and with a controlled ride in front again he will be hard to run down. He hasn’t shown a great deal of strength, but this is a weak race. MARVELLOUS WORLD debuts for Frankie Lor following four trials that saw Zac Purton ride him. Purton and Moreira by virtue of riding at the Dubai World Cup meeting were not permitted to accept rides in the first two races so Martin Harley has picked up Marvellous World. His trials have been okay, he’s shown speed, but still has plenty to learn. JIMSON THE DRAGON drops back to 1200m following a sound performance last time. He maps okay behind the speed and like Loriz, should be ready to deliver his best. SUPER EIGHTEEN might be a touch of overs. At his best, he’s one of the horses to beat, but his last run, albeit off a horror trip was only fair and he’d need to improve. Loriz is the horse to beat, but I could only recommend the smallest of win outlays in what is a low-confidence race.

I expect the pace to be on the SLOW side of GOOD here with LORIZ leading without a huge amount of pressure. SUPER EIGHTEEN and MARVELLOUS world can go forward also from JIMSON THE DRAGON and IRISH VEGA.
