summary

I like the look of HURRICANE HUNTER stepping up to the mile and well drawn with Zac Purton sticking with him. He seemed to drop out quickly after being taken back in a steadily run 1400m last time but still ran well in defeat. Hurricane Hunter maps well here in a race where they shouldn’t go that quick, so the race shape should be far more suitable. LUCKY SHINY DAY has posted some reasonable numbers on his last couple of starts, partly due to a solid pace, which is what he needs. He’s knocking on the door for a win and is clearly a leading contender again, but I’m just not sure he’ll get a race run to suit. FINE WITH ME hit the line very well on his last outing (final-200m of 11.62 which was the seventh-best at the meeting) and the two-time winner over the Valley mile looks well placed to make his presence felt. He too might settle back though and need some luck in the running. ELECTRIC LIGHTNING has posted his three career wins in this grade and was too close to a solid speed last start and might be able to bounce back. SAVVY SEVEN and CHAPARRAL STAR might enjoy good runs and don’t have a great deal to find on ratings either. Hurricane Hunter is worth a small play at his price in what is a competitive Class 4 race.

There doesn’t look to be a great deal of pressure on paper here with CALIFORNIA LEGEND and ART OF RAW potential speed horses. CHAPARRAL STAR and GOOD RUNNERS WAY can take close order from ELECTRIC LIGHTNING.
