The high barrier numbers will be advantaged in this one, with no false rail in operation. This will help the early favourite, VOYAGE WARRIOR who was supremely impressive when winning a trial down the straight course in good time. He looks pretty smart, although I am not sure I want to take odds-on about him especially given there are three other debutants, albeit no where near as appealing going off their work and trials. JOYFUL HEART was excellent when winning on debut and he posted a superb final-600m (33.28) sectional. He carries just 1.5kg more and you’d have to expect him to be better and improved for the experience. The negative for Joyful Heart is that he has drawn far from the grandstand rail, which I expect to be very disadvantageous. WHAT A LEGEND is another horse that can figure in the finish as all of his three career starts have contained merit and he has drawn the best side of the course and close to Voyage Warrior. SUNSHINE UNIVERSE has won his last two over the course and distance but faces stiffer opposition this time. This is a race to play with restraint given the early market. Voyage Warrior is clearly the horse to beat, but be careful of “poisonous odds”.
