This is a trappy race. The early favourite is JUMBO PRIZE who has moved reasonably well in a Happy Valley trial leading in to this event but I fear he might be over bet because of the booking of Zac Purton. There is no doubt he has ability and can be competitive but I am not sure I want to taking odds less than 5/1. KING’S TROOPER arguably went far better in his work and trials leading in to his debut when starting at $3.40 in the market and he was bitterly disappointing. Maybe he can show some sort of improvement running around a bend? Of the more exposed runners, THE SHOW, SUPER EURO STAR and BRAVE COMMAND can all run well. The Show is hard to fault on recent efforts, but the wide draws make it hard for him and Brave Command to get the right trip to win. Conversely I expect that Super Euro Star will land on the pace and should give a sight from there. He looks like a decent over early. All of that said, I don’t approach this race with a high degree of confidence and I’d be happier sitting this one out.
