The early favourite is NEVER BETTER and based on recent form, one can see why he is pretty short in the market. By the same token however, Never Better has won only one of 45 starts in Hong Kong and is regularly running the same sort of races where he hits the line strongly, but too late. He can win but I don’t want to take too short a quote. I think a better option is LUCKY STORM, who will find a prominent position quite easily and his last couple of runs in fast-run races have contained a lot of merit. The blinkers are off, the cheek-pieces are being fitted and as long as MEGATRON doesn’t pressure him too much then he should run well. GOLDEN CANNON should have gone back-to-back last time and his recent form is hard to fault. Even though he’s drawn 12, he’ll likely get back anyway and off a genuine speed can hit the frame once more. RIGHTEOUS MATE takes a drop in to this grade for his second run and his first for Tony Millard. Some of his efforts earlier this season would be good enough to win this event and the popular South African-trainer does have a knack of getting an early return from stable acquisitions. ROCKAGE is a horse that showed more at his last start. He’s drawn well, might be able to sit closer in the running and has the blinkers applied. It certainly wouldn’t surprise me if he ran well up in distance. LUCKY STORM is the horse I’m most interested in here, on a small outlay basis and I’m happy to speck ROCKAGE.
