Several entrants are making their debut in this event but they might have to be pretty handy to beat MR CROISSANT. This progressive-looing galloper finished a creditable second to Prince Of Gems on his debut and the form out of that race has worked out very well with Simply Big (fourth) and E Master (fifth) saluting on their subsequent appearance. Mr Croissant has won a trial since then and he looks set to break his maiden status. FLYING VICTORY has shown some speed in his work and with Zac Purton opting to ride him, he warrants respect. He has a horrible draw to overcome however, which is problematical. SPEEDY DRAGON posted back-to-back wins prior to suffering defeat behind Bingo last start, but if he can recapture that winning form, then he shouldn’t be far away in this one. SPEEDY OPTIMIST has also moved reasonably well in his trials although he leaves the impression with me that he is looking for further. I’m happy going with Mr Croissant to win the first however and possibly taking small quinellas with Speedy Dragon, Flying Victory and Speedy Optimist.
