SPARKLING DRAGON is easy to make a case for following his third to subsequent winner Full Of Beauty. He is probably better leading on his own right but he is a winner here at the Valley and he looks the horse to beat in the final event. Sparkling Dragon doesn’t need to improve on his overall form and this is clearly a weaker test for him. I am not sure how much faith to put in the race (438) that LOVING A BOOM finished second to Speed Vision in, but if he runs to that mark then he should prove competitive and the horse for Sparkling Dragon to beat. I have my doubts about that form though and the ratings derived from the race. ALCARI backs-up from last week and then ran well in defeat. He would have won in another bound and strikes a similar field. SPLIT OF A SECOND needs to raise the bar a touch now, but can fill a minor spot. Overall though Sparkling Dragon is my best and you’ll get an excellent price by the looks of the early market with a spruik around FAT TURTLE, a Frankie Lor debutant that Zac Purton is riding. He’s trialled up well and has shown speed, although race pressure is different to trial pressure.
