The booking of Joao Moreira on MIGHTY MAVERICK is noteworthy given he is two from two aboard this galloper and who has been sound in better races than he faces this time. The concern is his Happy Valley record, but many of those efforts were from poor draws where he was badly handled. If Mighty Maverick finds the form from his run behind Happy Force two starts back then he can win this. However, GOOD BEAUTY looks suited by the step up to a mile and the booking of Zac Purton is a positive. He should enjoy a good run from the gate and his last performance was better than it looked given the pattern of the day when those on-pace proved hard to run down. ALL YOU KNOW has been a model of consistency this term and shouldn’t be far away again. His main issue is where he gets to in the running – barrier 10 is very awkward. ULTIMATE GLORY looks as though he is looking for a drop in grade, but his last run contained merit given the track pattern and he too warrants respect. A small each way on Mighty Maverick is a play here and a part-unit quinella with my top three selections.
