Happy Valley (M54) - Wednesday, 13 March 2019

summary

There’s plenty of pace in this event, however I want to be with the leader and the ‘leader’s back’ horses here. LOOK ERAS is very fast and his effort when second to E Master was sound and we have seen Gift Of Lifeline come through that form line and win. If he isn’t forced to work too hard then he could get the job done. FRUSTRATED with the apprentice’s claim and a good barrier can be expected to run a lot better, especially after being given the ride he was last time (left a lot to be desired). He’ll get the chance to potentially follow the leader from barrier 2 and should get taken right into the finish. The newcomer AIOLOS was trained by Robert Hickmont in Australia, and has worked well recently having had a total of eight trials in Hong Kong. He clearly has potential, but he did want to hang in on his Happy Valley trial and I am concerned that he might need the experience, although heavy market support might tell a tale. GRACIOUS RYDER we backed last time when beaten by a subsequent winner in Wah May Princess and he probably deserves another chance. I’m happy to have a small outlay on potential leader Look Eras, with your chances significantly shaped by how he gets out of the barriers and where he sits after 100 metres.

speed

There should be decent speed here with LOOK ERAS working to the lead from NICE FANDANGO and FRUSTRATED. GENTLE BREEZE and AIOLOS might make up the next line of horses, with the latter significantly better drawn to receive an economical run.
