PRINCE OF GEMS looks hard to beat again. He was particularly impressive on his debut when settling handy to the lead and drawing clear of the field when asked to sprint in the straight. Then he ultimately posted a race-best final-200m (11.48) in what was a cosy win. He has to carry top weight but with a good draw and with the likelihood of a soft run, he should prove hard to beat. CRAIG’S STAR and HAPPY ALUMNI are both legitimate contenders. Craig’s Star has form around Full Of Beauty when running a decent rating second and clearly has upside. He maps to get a nice trip and will be a worthy adversary to Prince Of Gems. Happy Alumni is still a work in progress and could have easily won last start but for being a touch slowly away and then being held-up when the race was at its most serious. It is a tricky drawn for him but he too has some potential. The interesting runner is BEAUTY APPLAUSE. This unrated galloper has looked very professional in his trials and worked impressively. In any normal Class 4 on debut he would take some beating but he has struck a race with some depth. Nonetheless, he might be very smart if his trials are any indication and he might have enough speed to offset the wide draw.
