On paper there looks like there’ll be good speed in this event. Given most of the pace drawn high, it looks as though the shape should suit those settling midfield or worse. There might be a good play here with SAVVY SEVEN. The blinkers went on last time and he showed improvement and in retrospect, Moreira probably went a little too soon on him which left him vulnerable to being nabbed late. With a rise in grade, he gets in well with a light weight and considering his last run and his opposition here, he can win. PERFECT PAIR and FLAME LILY are clearly the dangers. The former should appreciate coming up in trip and has some upside. Joao Moreira rides him though and given it looks as though he’s gone that way ahead of two others, he looks destined to come up too short to back. Flame Lily was caught in an awkward spot last time but stayed on to the line well enough and he will get a better run in transit this time. WINNING CONTROLLER might have to do some work from a wide draw but will also strip fitter for the run and will be more effective over this distance. He looks a really large price early. I’m happy to play Savvy Seven primarily though along with Flame Lily.
