TAI SMART indicated he is close to a win over the Valley mile last time and stepping up to 1,800m looks a real positive for his chances. He is however, a 19-start maiden in Hong Kong and has been very costly for backers along the way. Nonetheless, this looks a good opportunity for him to finally break through. I like the booking of Zac Purton on HAPPY ROCKY once more and this gelding, who is a five-time winner at the city course, is more than capable of posting another success. SANGRIA has a bit of a class edge on most of these, but being a back marker with the rail in the “C+3” position has to be a concern. His recent figures are very good though and it isn’t difficult to make a case for him, especially if the race is run faster than forecasted. LE PANACHE has had plenty of racing this season, but hasn’t finished outside of the first four and he should be able to work into the finish again. With Moreira taking the reins though he’s too short and it’s likely that if he wins it will be without me backing it. Tai Smart and Happy Rocky are both worth small win outlays here.
