This is a typical Class 5 event. The drop in grade is going to help GENTRY and THE SYLPH who have each been running quite well in better Class 4 races. The former has the pacifiers removed and the booking of Zac Purton, both of which is going to help him win another race. The Sylph has a poor win-rate and his record of two from 56 is clear evidence, but he did post one of those wins in this grade earlier this season. He’s a horse that has shown a lot more ability relative to the wins he’s achieved which reflects the fact that he probably isn’t overly genuine. LUCKY SHINY DAY was excellent in defeat at Happy Valley over 1,800m two starts back and if you’re willing for forgive his all-weather run in the mean time, then he could easily bounce back and win. Joao Moreira is aboard though and the early market has the horse coming up very short. The horse that is worth a small each way speck in the first is LAUGH OUT LOUD. He comes through a decent rating race for this grade and he probably should have finished closer last time. He maps nicely tonight and can run better than his price says.
