18 units Strategy

best outlay

2 EVERBRAVE (rp – $4.00)

WIN (3 units) PLACE (6 units)

EVERBRAVE delivered a very big performance last start to stay on for fifth and overall he’s been in good form even though he’s not received much luck in the running. From a good draw tonight he should park perfectly behind the speed and is a super each-way bet.

Result: 3rd @ $2.10 best corporate (-3 units)(+6.6 units) -> (+3.6 units)

9 SHIMMER AND SHINE (rp – $3.50)

WIN (4.5 units)

SHIMMER AND SHINE should be ready to win at his third start for Caspar Fownes. He was excellent on the dirt, albeit well beaten behind Noble De Love last start and he’s shown enough on the turf in the past. If Chad Schofield can get across to the two wide position and settle just behind the leaders then he can finish over the top of the favourite Blitzing and others.

Result: 6th (-4.5 units)

3 STAR MAJESTIC (rp – $5.50)

WIN (1.5 units) PLACE (3 units)

Silvestre De Sousa takes the ride on STAR MAJESTIC and even though he’s getting on in years I believe he sits on a mark where he’s still a realistic winning chance with the right run. I think he will get his chance tonight from barrier 2 I like him to turn around his last start 10th by finishing in the money at a good price.

Result: 11th (-1.5 units)(-3 units) -> (-4.5 units)

Overall result for 18 units strategy

-5.4 UNITS  (30% LOSS)

The heavy rain during the Sha Tin program really influenced the track, it was a huge advantage to be racing close to the rail and on the speed.

Have Fun Together ran an enormous race all things considered. He missed the kick by a couple of lengths before getting held up at the top of the straight, and made huge ground late and wide on the track.

Superich was brilliant and he looks a galloper with a lot of promise. He maintained a wide run and was powerful through the line. Noble Steed also did a good job to finish second, he’s got points in hand for the new season.

Shining On and Sunshine Holiday never really got into the race given how the track played.

So that brings to an end season 2017/18. Congratulations to John Size, Champion Trainer and Zac Purton, Champion Jockey for their achievements through out the term. It will certainly be a different landscape with Joao Moreira leaving to Japan and I look forward to unlocking plenty of winners factoring-in next season’s crop of jockeys!

Thanks for following Hutchi’s Honkers through out Hong Kong season 2017/18! It was satisfying to turn a seasonal profit, that was the goal and even though it wasn’t large, for bigger players who are able to earn rebates via their respective agencies, it’s been significant.
